Descriptions
Looking to try something new? Or, to rekindle your love for fitness? Here are the classes I teach and what I LOVE about them:
Barre – We mix elements of Pilates, dance, yoga, and functional training. You’ll gain flexibility, a stronger core, and better posture. We work the muscles in small movements with intentional squeezes and pulses. Bring weights and a mat to class!
HIGH Fitness – It’s like old school aerobics!! This is a hardcore, fun fitness class that incorporates interval training with pop music, and intense easy-to-follow fitness choreography. Classes are strategically designed to get you pumped with cardio and strength movements.
Yoga – I offer vinyasa-style and yin yoga. Vinyasa features smooth transitions and flows between postures. We learn about the power of the breath and how to connect the breath to movement. Yin is a more passive practice; we spend extra time in each posture to allow gravity to take over and to get into the connective tissue. Yoga meets you where you are, each time you step on the mat, so classes are good for beginners or more seasoned yogis.
Fitness Background
In 2009, I started teaching group fitness classes. After getting my Zumba Fitness I license, I quickly added Zumba Fitness II and Zumba Toning to my repertoire.
In 2011, I wanted to branch out from just cardio-based fitness classes. I started taking PiYo Strength classes and found the results of building strength, flexibility, and toning incredibly rewarding. Not long after taking classes, I became licensed to teach PiYo Strength.
In the spring of 2012, I added Turbo Kick, another Beach Body-style class, to my teaching portfolio. Like Zumba, Turbo Kick is an intense cardio class, and it couples very well with PiYo Strength.
Looking for another challenge, I became certified to teach Insanity in 2013. The most intense class I’ve ever taken or taught, Insanity is a high-intensity interval training class, helping increase endurance, speed, agility, strength, and power.
In 2016, I challenged myself with another TurboKick certification, to learn the NEW and updated TurboKick Live format.
In 2017, I attended a certification for Pound Fitness training, to add something different to the mix.
In 2018, I completed Barre and Buti Yoga certifications.
In 2019, I completed Xtreme Hip Hop certification, and started my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certification.
In 2020, I completed HIGH Fitness certification, LIIT Yoga, my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certification (RYT-200) my YIN Yoga certification, and I became an ACE-certified Personal Trainer (CPT).
New to Classes?
I remind students that it’s okay if your moves don’t look 100% like mine! Each body moves differently, and it’s important to listen to your body as you do the moves. Some of my students modify moves, some go left when I go right…I say, as long as you’re jammin’, having a good time, feeling good, go for it!
Stick with it! Try to attend at least three classes if you’re new. Give yourself time to learn the material.
