Strawberry Picking
There’s nothing quite like picking a bright red berry fresh from the ground on a warm spring day. Usually, my first strawberry picking adventure of the season begins on my birthday (May 28…because we both know that you secretly want to send me a treat). This year, we’ve experienced an uncommonly warm spring (and mild winter), so the strawberries are ready to pick a little early!
I was so excited to see the rows and rows of beautiful berries! {and I stole a couple of quick glances into the blueberry and raspberry rows, too…you know, for future reference.}
{these are for my coworkers…we’re setting sail on the might Chester River tomorrow afternoon after work! Cupcakes are totally necessary for boat trips.}
I have big plans to go back to Lockbriar to pick a couple of flats of berries for both freezing and jam making! Though honestly, we’ll probably end up eating an entire flat. We’re berry much in love with strawberries.
I looked forward to this adventure all day. I love being outside in the sunshine, digging my fingers into the dirt (or into strawberry patches) and enjoying the sweet fruits of the Earth.
So thrilled for the start of summer and the wonderful bounty of fruits and other goodies it brings!
oh, I’m envious! and I totally support local and healthy livestyle. 🙂
