Coffee Talk Tuesday #15
Happy Coffee Talk Tuesday! Welcome to the weekly chat where I spill my guts and try not to spill my coffee. That would be very sad.
If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that we had a really fun weekend. I started Friday night with some yoga by the water at Clovelly Vineyard — my first visit here! What a great location. On Saturday, I taught a Zumba class and then we left for Hagerstown to visit Johnny’s aunt. We did some shopping, ate delicious food, and hiked at Cunningham Falls. So awesome!
If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that I rode my bike for the first time yesterday post-surgery. It’s crazy how many activities tug at your abdomen. My route includes a couple of inclines, so it was definitely an interesting challenge. I can’t wait to do it again!
If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that I’m ready to start running again! I’m going to take it slow, maybe just one day this week, and add on with the days and the mileage as I go. I’ve rekindled my love for running this summer, so I’m looking forward to getting back to the pavement.
If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that most of the articles that have caught my attention this week are related to work schedule, productivity, motivation, and even email culture. I have supervisory tasks on my creative brain — working to find the best ways to keep workers motivated, productive, creative, and happy. (Of course I have asked them their preferred styles).
On the same side, it’s hard to empower people while also reminding them to be respectful. Happy to hear any tips from fellow managers! Tasks I’ve mastered — I love managing tasks. People are much more dynamic. I’ve been a supervisor for years, but this is the first time I have 4 people on my team, plus a student intern and a team of 15 students.
If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that as a professional, it’s awesomesauce when you see other people taking flight with something you created. I’m a creator — I like to fill space with something new. I like developing things from thin air. When someone else takes that initiative, that creative piece and makes it their own or pushes it up even more — that’s gold to me. I love watching my ideas get lifted and used for the greater good.
If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that we’re taking our one year anniversary pictures this week! We have taken engagement and wedding photos with the fabulous Chelsea Fluharty and I’m so excited to take ONE YEAR HUSBAND and WIFE photos. I can’t believe it’s almost been a year!!!!!
What’s on your mind this week?
