Coffee Talk Tuesday #86

Grab a cup (celebrating here with my free iced honey vanilla latte, weeee) and let’s have a chat.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I tend to jam-pack the beginning of the week. Monday feels like Friday by the time the day is done. On Mondays, I work my NGS coordinator job (Mondays are usually super productive on that front), have my Buti work study job at Foundations, teach Turbo Kick, train (PWR), and I use the day to set the tone for my “big 3” of the week.

Related, if we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I got a new Focus planner. I want to share a full review, but here are the basics: you pick a “top three” of the day to conquer, have room to make a list of things that would be awesome to accomplish if time permits, and a space for notes of the day. Right now, that means I’m carrying two planners, but I’m hoping to wean myself off the other one. The only thing the Focus planner does not have is a monthly calendar view, which is essential when your three jobs include coordination. It’s not supposed to have a full calendar, but I need one. Thus, two planners.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m thinking a lot about creating this week. I identify as a creator — I love to invent something, to make something, to be creative. While I like routine, I thrive when I have the chance to try something new. I like being able to make something from nothing (which works well for my NGS coordinator job, because it’s the first time this has been done). I like creating new rules and ideas. BUT! Then, I like to work the magic of executing those new rules and ideas.

This is part of the reason I like to create things. I like to identify patterns and needs, and have been in lots of situations where I wish something existed. The power in being a creator is that I have the desire and energy to make it happen. My issue as a creator is that I like to create a lot of things, which doesn’t leave much time to follow through, but that’s something I’m working on as an individual. The focus planner is helping with this effort!

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m so glad to be in the position I am with my various jobs–it’s a lot on me each day, and there are always 18 moving parts, but I have the ability to be creative with each position.

For example, I created a new class this spring! I gave it a try, and am so pleased with the results. It has been the most challenging to teach, since I’m creating brand-new content every single week and testing it on a new audience. The response has been awesome, I’m so glad for all the amazing fit buddies who attend each week. I’ve decided to extend it another 6 weeks, changing the day/time and condensing it to 45 minutes. I love creating something and then tweaking it to make it even better. There’s more freedom with designing my own class, and I love the power and flexibility of it.

Off to create! Have a marvelous rest of the week.
