Coffee Talk Tuesday #91
It’s Tuesday! Grab your cup & let’s have a chat.
If we were having coffee together this week, I’d tell you that we had QUITE the week last week. On Tuesday and Wednesday, I went to Ocean City for a work retreat. On Wednesday, we officially adopted Cora. We’re over the moon!!! Over the weekend, I bought a new car. It’s kind of been a whirlwind!
If we were having coffee together this week, I’d tell you that I’m so excited about the new car. It’s a Buick Encore, and the dealer called it an “urban SUV.” It has all the awesomeness of an SUV in more of a compact size. I love it. It’s the perfect fit for me! I’ve been looking for a new car for more than a year, passively. I should really give the credit to the husband — he’s the one who has been researching deals, and always stops at dealers when we pass to check out the options. For the longest time, I thought I wanted a Chevy Equinox or a Terrain. But after test driving these options, I felt so small. They’re great choices if you have a big family or need lots of space. The car I had for 6 years (my chevy impala) was an awesome car and still has so much life to it. But I wanted an SUV! When I first saw the Encores, I thought they looked super cute (of course that’s the most important thing when buying a car, lol). Looking into them more, they have the features I want (in the preferred edition), the size I was looking for, and better gas mileage (my car was a V6 engine which I didn’t need). I love my new car!!! I’m inventing reasons to drive it, but I already drive quite a bit between teaching, work study, and taking new classes.
If we were having coffee together this week, I’d tell you that I have quite the to do list before we set off on our trip. I have my “All the things” planner outlined for each day, and the task list is crazy. I’m trying to coordinate a college visit in July for our Next Gen program and work on entering all of my data from our engagements with students this year. I’m also working on two web projects, starting a new one, and crafting a social media strategy for another project. I’m also teaching 9 classes this week.
Speaking of teaching classes, if we were having coffee together this week, I’d share that I’m super proud of myself for taking a 2-week teaching break(ish). It’s so easy to get caught in the ‘yes’ trap and try to be everything for everyone. That’s one of the things I’m hoping to meditate on during my teaching break–what classes do I truly love to offer, what classes should I include in my new fall schedule, where do I want to teach, and what brings the most joy. Right now, I have the ability to teach 6 formats and am adding 2 more this summer. I’m still teaching a few classes during my break (and running the FWA Virtual Group which you are welcome to join at any time) — Saturday Zumba, Tuesday Zumba+Pound, and a special Glow Pound class, but I’m glad for the chance to re-group and prioritize. I have another 6-week block of classes starting the week of July 9 for the summer, and it’s pretty similar to the schedule for the first part of the summer. If you take classes with me, I welcome your input for the future schedule! Drop me a line or catch me at class.
If we were having coffee together this week, I’d tell you that I’m planning on spending those two weeks doing lots of barre, Buti, and BBG 3.0! I’m hopping back on the BBG bandwagon because I MISS my own HIIT and strength workouts. It’s one thing to create and teach a HIIT class (and lately I’ve been doing the class with everyone)…I like the unknown of ‘what is next’ that comes with following a workout. See, even trainers need trainers!!!
That’s a lot for now — I’d love to hear from you! Which classes do you definitely want to see on the FALL schedule?
