Coffee Talk Tuesday #94

It’s Tuesday! Let’s chat.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m so happy to see companies like Starbucks join the ban of plastic straws. I’ve talked about the Refuse the Straw project before, and how it got me to start carrying stainless steel straws everywhere I go. I purchased this 4-pack of straws for $7, if you are interested! I’ve seen compact straws, too, that you can carry in a little case on your keychain. As I’ve previously shared, I realize that the best thing to do is go completely straw-less, but there are some drinks (like lattes and iced coffee) that are better with a straw. Even now, typing it, that sounds absurd and privileged, but you have to start somewhere. Think differently, right?

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m still so excited that my friend Karli & I are officially taking over the planning of BBG Baltimore meet-ups! Once a month, on Sundays, we get the SWEAT community together and enjoy a workout and other goodies. We met this month on the Under Armour turf fields, and it was a total blast. Even if you’ve never tried the BBG program, come join us! You’ll be hooked and want to do all the BBG workouts.  Join us on instagram and facebook for the next meet-up info.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that, in related news, I’m trying something new! Amazon has a prime wardrobe option — you can try items for free, send back what you don’t want (with a prepaid label that they provide), and just pay for what you keep. Since we’re meeting on the UA turf, I thought it was time to get some UA kicks! But, I don’t really love going to stores, and I definitely need to try on shoes, even though I’m generally the same size in sneakers across different brands. I also wanted to see some of these colors in person! Can you help me decide which pair to keep? I’m running a little survey on instagram. TIA!

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that this Friday, we’re taking 150 students to Bowie State University for another Next Generation Scholars college visit. More than a typical visit, we set up various learning sessions for the students. I’m the main coordinator for this visit, and while I’m excited for the trip, I am ready for the day to be done. ha! It’s taken a lot of time and crazy back-and-forth coordination, and I know it will be a great learning opportunity for our students. Wish us luck!

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that the second 6-week summer block of fitness classes has started! It’s great to be able to offer so many fitness options. I’m already working on my “fall” schedule that will begin in September. Some NEW classes will be featured, and I cannot wait. Try something new! I love getting new certifications so I can continue to challenge everyone in different ways. Get ready!

Grab some more coffee and have a great week!
