Coffee Talk Tuesday #101
Happy Tuesday! Grab your cup and let’s chat.
If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you it’s a latte kinda day. Plain latte – this is my new go-to drink. I’m ready to make the switch from iced coffee to hot coffee, and lattes are already drinkable the moment you get them, not scalding hot like coffee. Win!
If we were having coffee together today, I’d spend a moment reflecting on life 17 years ago. Where were you during 9/11? I was in my sophomore chemistry class, which happened to be a double class because we had a lab immediately after class. Usually, during the change in classes, we’d hear the hustle and bustle of people in the hallway, but on this day? We heard nothing – no one was in the hallway. My teacher, perplexed, went to the next room to check in with another teacher, and came back with the palest face I’ve ever seen. She didn’t say a word, but reached for the remote to turn on the TV (we had a mounted TV in every classroom). We ended up being dismissed for a half day, but from that moment until dismissal, everyone sat, glued to the news. It feels like yesterday, I can’t believe it’s been 17 years. Where were you that day?
If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that it’s OPEN HOUSE at AquaFit this week! That means that non-members can come use the gym, the pool, and take classes. There’s a limit for spin, boot camp, and circuit (one class each), but everything else is open. I’m teaching barre at 6 p.m. Thursday and Zumba at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Come join us!
If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that we have a free BBG workout in Baltimore this weekend! We’re watching the storm pattern closely, since our workout is outdoor. I hope we’ll have a brief reprieve from the rain so we can rock our interval workout! Curious about this format? Come to my Thursday 4:45 p.m. interval class to get a sneak peek of Sunday’s workout! Here’s the link to register for Sunday.
If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m excited to train a new group of volunteers for the MD Scholars program next week! I love being able to bring local professionals into the classroom to talk to students about life after high school. It’s so important for these students to see great examples of professionalism, careers, and future goals. If you live in Kent County and want to participate (must be able to lead sessions during the school day), please get in touch with me! I’m also looking for volunteers who can lead/teach hands-on science demonstrations in science classes.
Ready for a great week!
