Coffee Talk Tuesday #102
It’s Tuesday! Grab that cup and let’s have a chat.
If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I started my Tuesday by leading a training for volunteer speakers. I love this program – we bring local professionals into the 8th and 9th grade classrooms to share information about goal setting, taking steps toward success, and thinking about life after high school (and how to take steps NOW to get there). I get so energized with this stuff, and my brain gets all happy and thinking about goals.
So! I thought I would share this week’s goals with you. If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I set 3 wellness goals for myself this week. These goals are based on my optimal performance — I’ve noticed that these three things independently make me feel good, so I wanted to try all of them together. My 3 goals – walk 20,000 steps every day, drink 8 cups of water/day and sleep 7-8 hours each night. I’ve found that 7.5 is my magical number for hours of sleep, to wake up feeling refreshed. Any more and I actually feel groggy. Less, well…let’s just not think about that. So far, I’m hitting my goals, through day 3!
Do you set short-term goals? I love having BIG goals to really strive toward, but find that I feel happier and more successful if I also have weekly or monthly goals. My 3 wellness goals this week are inspired by a challenge husband & I have set for ourselves to look & feel our best before our big Disney trip next month. So far, so good!
If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I taught my first 60-min barre class last week and loved it! I’m offering 5 more sessions this fall, with potentially more to come if all goes well. It’s a really neat format, and I’m so excited to have it in my teaching arsenal. (if you’re local & interested in coming, you can register for any/all of the 5 sessions here.)
If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m really excited to be hosting some Beginner Buti Workshops. I want to share this format with everyone! I love the idea of a beginner workshop because I’ll be able to showcase the movement methodology and take time to talk about modifications. This class moves so quickly that it’s good to have these workshops to really introduce everything. I have a workshop in Chestertown this Friday and one on Oct. 20 on Kent Island. I welcome all who want to experience this energy and work on the movements!
If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that we had a great BBG meet last weekend in Baltimore! It’s so fun to share workout enthusiasm with others — which is one of the reasons I love teaching group fitness classes. In fact, that was the topic of a NEW series I started on facebook – the Monday Minute! Each week, I’ll share 60 seconds (a quick nugget) of info on a hot fitness or wellness topic. The goal is to START the conversation and get your input as well. This week’s topic is all about group fitness – why do you love it? Check it out & add your two cents!
Have a fabulous week!
I love group fitness because having a teacher is helpful to do the moves correctly and doing it as a group is motivating that you’re not alone in the journey
