Coffee Talk Tuesday #103

Happy Tuesday! Grab your coffee and let’s have a chat.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that IT IS FALL, Y’ALL! Bring on the pumpkins, the crisp air, the beautiful changing leaves, and scarves and boots. I’m ready. I love living in an area where we get to experience seasons. I’m super ready to go on a fall hike to see the changing colors. I pulled our fall decor (#basic) from the attic and got some mums and pumpkins to decorate our front stoop.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I got to attend a fun fitness class last weekend – bungee fitness! Oh my gosh, so much fun. I want to do it again and learn more tricks. It’s short, 30 minutes, and you get to experience flying, gliding, and jumping with an extra kick. I love exploring new fitness classes, and getting inspiration for my own classes. And – it’s just fun to take a class. I spend so much time prepping for and teaching classes that it’s nice to be the student for once. That’s how I feel about my Orange Theory classes – I’m so glad to be taking these once a week. I’m always on the lookout for a fitness adventure! My other class goals are to try trapeze, an adult hip hop class, a Britney-themed dance class (there’s one I keep stalking in NYC), a class at BMVMNT, a class or workshop with Kaisa Keranen, a yoga workshop with Kino MacGregor, a Stoked Method class, and a dance fitness class with Simone De La Rue. I’m working my way through this list!

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that related to this list of goal fitness experiences is this idea that SEPTEMBER is the new JANUARY. I shared it yesterday on my “Monday Minute” facebook live session, and I really believe it. Why wait until the start of the New Year to reflect on your goals and ambitions? So many people set goals at the beginning of the year, just to get distracted and let them fall to the wayside. Why not spend some time this week reflecting on the year, and any changes or improvements you want to make before 2019 starts? MY GOAL: Three 5k interval runs each week. One time each week will be at OTF, and the other two will be on my own. I like the format that OTF utilizes, and want to continue to challenge myself to complete the run part (on the treadmill) 2 additional times a week. I want to do this until the end of the year. I’m ready for the challenge!

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m getting SO PUMPED for Disney. We’ve settled on Epcot and Universal as our parks/areas to explore. Y’all, this will be my first time at the parks. I’ve been to Orlando before, but just for conferences (including Zumba convention) and have never taken advantage of visiting a park. I do NOT ride rides, and I’m not a fan of huuuuuge lines, so I’m glad we’re going at random times and to places I think I will enjoy. Any other tips we should know before we go?

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I had two awesome conversations with some of my sophomores this week. As the adult, we often think we’re the ones teaching the students different skills and ideas, but it’s good to remember that they teach US, too. I love being able to have 1:1 time with my students this year, as that allows me to really get to know them, understand their interests and ideas, and learn fun things like they’re writing short stories, or they were inspired by a motivational speaker and now want to explore that as a career, or having an awesome convo about Joseph Campbell and the Hero’s Journey with them. I’m loving it!

If we were having coffee together this week, I’d end by telling you that I’m itching to host a free workout challenge again. I got to a point where I was hosting like one every single month. After taking a break from these challenges, I’m gearing up to host one for October. Get ready for a PUSH-UP CHALLENGE! Details to follow here and of course on facebook. (Are you part of the Fit with Aundra page on facebook?)

Have a great week!
