Coffee Talk Tuesday #108

It’s Tuesday! Grab your cup and let’s have a chat.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that we attended a wedding this weekend! Husband was a groomsman. Isn’t he the cutest? This was wedding #4 for us this year. It’s extra special because we got married in October – actually, celebrating 3 years tomorrow (Oct. 31)! We’ve officially been together 5 years, engaged for one year, and married 3 years. The time sure does fly! I’m super excited because I’m not teaching a fitness class this year on our anniversary, so I’ll be home to pass out candy to the trick-or-treaters with husband. We’re also having a special dinner, recreating our wedding night dinner!

Fun story – we had a brunch wedding. We both love brunch, we’re not late night people, and the idea of having everyone gone, the party wrapped up, and cuddling with my new husband by 6 p.m. was like the best thought ever. BUT that meant that we had to figure out dinner, since we stayed in our wedding location for one night before heading to Roanoke for honeymoon #1/our hiking adventure. So, we did what any newly-married couple would do – we got take-out from Applebee’s down the road. Isn’t that the best story?!

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m in full planning mode for my next online fitness challenge! I got a GREAT idea from a client today, so I’ve got the wheels turning in my head. This will be a holiday challenge, totally free, and likely a group on facebook. Stay tuned for more, and stick with me to stay fit during the holidays!

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m also in serious planning mode for fitness classes. On top of the regular classes I offer, I’m reaching out to various groups to host special classes. Did you know that I’ll come to you for classes? I love offering special/private group classes — it’s an excellent bonding tool and super convenient for you and your friends/colleagues. I’m also hosting a few fun Friday night classes – Pound, Buti, and Zumba. Head to facebook to see all the events!

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m also working on my word of the year for 2019 (2 months until the year starts, y’all!). What does this mean? I like to have a word for the year, something to focus my energy toward and work toward, to make me better! Here are some of my past words:

  • 2014 – confident
  • 2015 – focus
  • 2016 – strong
  • 2017 – self
  • 2018 – assertive

Looking back through posts (it’s really kind of amazing to document all of these journeys), I’m noticing a theme – my word is usually picked based on a single incident that causes me to question either my actions or how I spend my time. I’m highly critical of my self, always looking for ways to improve, which is why I think I put so much emphasis on goals. Having a word to lead those goals helps me to move closer toward the person I want to be and life I want to live. Jury is still out on the 2019 word, but you better believe I’m thinking hard about it. I’m not 100% convinced that my 2018 word has been helpful or fulfilled yet, either, so I might move toward something I think I can actually achieve. Or, I might push myself to work harder to achieve it. Have you tried this approach to the year? I’d love to talk more about it with you!

That’s all for today–see you next time for some delicious Tuesday coffee!
