Coffee Talk Tuesday #128
It’s Tuesday! Grab your cup and let’s start talkin’.
If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m having a mixed week. I’m in the planning stages for so. many. things. and while I LOVE planning, I want it all to be here and ready to go!
What am I working on?
For my work with MBRT, I’m planning summer programming – a chance for students to stay academically engaged over the summer. I’m trying to plan relevant things — a Habitat build for them to gain service hours, a dependable skills workshop for them to see what skills they have and leave with a resume, a STEM field trip, SAT verbal and math prep courses, as well as connections to summer exploration programs for GIS, writing, and leadership. All of this is free of charge, thanks to our grant, to my students! I’m excited to roll all of this out to my students.
For my fitness classes, I’m celebrating TEN YEARS of teaching, and am planning a special event early in May to kick-off a fun summer of different things: a Fit Challenge, additional times for classes, a NEW class/certification, fun giveaways, an updated website, and more. It’s been such an amazing ten years, and I’m looking forward to 10+ more years of this amazing profession!
Related, if we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I recently asked my students what they’d love to see in terms of summer classes. There’s definitely been a range of responses, and I’m still taking suggestions! Pop over to facebook to share your thoughts.
I’m also trying to finalize media ideas for one of my media/communications clients, and it’s been a rocky process. PSA to anyone hoping to own/run/grow a business – have a plan, have goals, have ambitions, and be willing to try things to get where you want. Every other week, I consider moving on from this client, but I’m stubborn and I see potential, which leads to me simply complaining about it to husband instead. I promised myself I’d give it one more mega effort, so wish me luck this week. (good vibes only here!) Related, I’m always on the lookout for new and fun clients to put together media strategy, communications plans, develop materials – so reach out if you’re looking to spice things up or start something new!
So, if we were having coffee together this week, I’d tell you that this planning phase of things is fun and adventurous, but I’m also a huge fan of action. Planning is excellent, and needed, but only takes you so far. I’m ready to make moves on some of these plans.
If we were having coffee together this week, I’d also tell you that we’re looking at some potential big changes in the Anderson home — I cannot reveal what’s happening yet, but I’m pretty stoked about future possibilities. Intrigue! (side note: I have 184 children at school, this has nothing to do with babies or puppies. But related to this side note, husband literally asked me about another kitty this weekend and I thought he was joking, but I think he was serious. Will report back. Or, maybe just keep checking insta to see if a new kitty makes an appearance. I go back and forth because I love/prefer older cats, and kitties drive me bonkers. Maybe we’ll get another cat. This is the longest side note ever.)
Feeling like I have a nice, full plate of planning and planting seeds, so I’m off to get at it. Have a great week!
