Coffee Talk #192: Share Your Goals

It’s Tuesday! Grab your cup and let’s chat.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m in major PLANNING mode. Planning for the start of the school year (whatever form that takes — coming up with three plans for this), planning for the present and future of my group fitness classes, planning my time to study for the personal training exam, and planning future trips. So much is happening right now!

With everything that’s happening and trying to keep it all organized, I like to come back to my goals list frequently. It’s the WHY. Why am I doing what I do each day? Do my daily actions help me move toward my goals? If not, then it’s time to change my daily actions.

I shared some of my summertime goals and wishes in a previous post and I love coming back to it. One of the best things I can tell you to help achieve a goal? SHARE IT. It’s scary to put yourself out there, and much easier to keep it to yourself and jump out like SURPRISE when you do a thing, but the method of sharing, posting, writing it down can help keep you accountable.

So, an update!

  1. Finish ACE Personal Training studying & take test
  2. Get outside every day
  3. Take a trip to a National Park Congaree National Park 7/3/20
  4. Drink all the iced coffee
  5. Put final touches on new house and share a tour
  6. Infinite hammock time
  7. Take Cora to a different park or the beach once a week
  8. Go on picnics with husband
  9. Create a plan for immediate future fitness classes/locations
  10. Teach outdoor classes in 3 new places (!!!)
  11. Schedule 3 new private class clients/sessions
  12. Host a backyard BBQ
  13. Pick & eat all the fruit
  14. Work on National Parks album with husband
  15. Finish new fitness services website

I’ve managed to cross off ONE summertime goal so far, and I’m happy to report that I’m staying on track with 2, 4, and 6. When I worked in an office environment all summer, I missed having tons of sunshine/outdoor time. I’m getting SO much right now, between working from home and alternating between my office and the deck, and teaching ALL the classes outside.

I’m so pleased to share that I’m working HARD on numbers 9, 11, 13, related to group fitness. After reaching out to tons of places and scheduling unique class opportunities at Lockbriar, Inn at Mitchell House, Red Acres Hydroponics, I now have folks reaching out to ME to schedule a class at their location!!! I am spending time this week before classes scoping out each spot and working out a schedule to include these new spaces. I’m super excited — this has been so much fun to plan special locations to host fitness class experiences. I’m so GLAD I put that goal out there – because how on Earth would someone know I was looking to teach at new spots if I didn’t say it?

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m nervous and excited for the future of fitness. I’ve made it very clear that I’m not interested in teaching indoors yet, and I know that keeps my options somewhat limited, at least in the traditional sense of fitness. We’ve been making it work in the heat, and I’m constantly adding classes to suit the needs and interests of clients. It’s tough work but I’m so glad to be doing it!

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m holding myself accountable to 5, 7, 8, and 14. Both husband and I keep so busy, and lately our weekend time has been taken by helping family, teaching classes, and SO MUCH yard work (cough, I’ll admit I do very little of that). I’m so glad we had a chance to take a trip – I love unlimited time with my favorite person! I’m purposely not teaching a class one day a week so we can either take Cora somewhere new OR go on an adventure date together. We’re celebrating 5 years of marriage this year, so we’ve also been working on planning a super special trip.

Do you have a goal or goals you’re working on? I love hearing them! Feel free to share in the comments or in a message – I can be your accountability buddy!
