Coffee Talk #180: The One Where They Buy a New House

It’s Tuesday! Grab your cup and let’s start chattin’.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you TODAY IS THE DAY. We sign over our first home and officially purchase our second home. We’re stoked for this next chapter in our lives. We’re convinced that this is our dream home – it checks so many of the boxes we created when we started the home search process. Our home sold quickly so our search process moved very quickly, too.

Let’s take a little walk down memory lane. I remember moving into our home. It was Johnny’s home, I moved in when we got engaged. (Fun fact: my wedding page is still the most visited page on my site – and it’s even hidden). I had so much fun turning ‘his’ home into ‘our’ home, adding sweet touches everywhere.

We completed so many BIG projects together at our first home: building a new kitchen, adding a new roof, renovating the back porch and turning it into our dining/office area, adding a patio, building a garden – so much. I’m glad we spent time turning this house into a home. I’m excited for the next tenant to put her touches on her new home!

These never got posted, because our house sold before they were published, so I thought I’d share this awesome slideshow that beautifully commemorates our first home together. I enjoy seeing all of the light and love that radiates through these photos.

I look forward to creating our new home together. I shared a little sneak peek on instagram. We’re excited for our cape cod, surrounded by woods, on a spring. When we first started the home-buying process, we had three lists: needs, wants, would be nice to have. Our immediate “want but would be nice to have” was “a cape cod in the woods.” I still can’t believe we found it. (Just for fun, one of my MUST haves is a separate bathroom. We’ve never shared a bathroom and I believe it’s the foundation of a good marriage).

I promise to share more as we build our new living spaces. We’re so excited to call this place our new home!
