Coffee Talk Tuesday #120
It’s Tuesday! Grab your cup and let’s start talking.
If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that this past weekend, I participated in a local fundraiser event, Dance with the Stars, for the fifth time. If you’ve never been to an event like this, let me paint a picture – a room is transformed to the theme (this year was Hollywood, so lots of elegance, black, gold, Oscar decor), everyone dresses up, and there’s a general excitement and anticipation in the air. The pros and stars all choose a dance, base their costumes around the theme of the dance, and work hard to prepare a 2 minute performance. All of this is for a fundraiser – Horizons of Kent and Queen Anne’s – which provides a unique 6-week summer experience for local kids. They beat the summer slide with academic enrichment, swim lessons, trips, and more. It’s a great cause, and the winning team raised $11,000 on their own. We raised $20,000 before the night even started – I can’t wait to learn the final numbers!
If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m so relieved January is OVER. What a crazy month. I let myself get pulled into 80,000 directions and kept trying to come up for air, aligning with my priorities. It was a struggle for sure. But February? We’re going to ROCK this month. Because we can. Are you joining me?
If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m hosting another virtual fitness session for HIIT! This includes 9 workouts, 3 challenges, tracking progress through the Fit Test, and extra challenges like 8 cups of water/day and lower intensity workouts (maybe a goal of 10,000 steps/day as an example). All this for just $20. JOIN ME!
If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m running a “share the 💖” special this month. In classes, I’m handing out free class passes for current clients to give to friends! This is the time to encourage people to try classes. Catch me in class if you want a pass to give to a friend! The offer is good for my classes at Washington College.
If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that we’ve finalized our plans for birthday weekend trip! Husband and I have birthdays 1 day apart, so we like to celebrate with a special trip. Depending on my impending jury duty, we have two plans. If we can leave Thursday vs. Saturday, we’ll go to both Asheville, NC and Gatlinburg, TN to hike in the Smokies! If we can just escape for the long weekend, we’ll go to Asheville. I can’t wait for our next trip! We’re also choosing between 2 locations for our next big summer National Park trip. The two locations are very different, and I’m having a hard time choosing. On the list: Glacier National Park OR Yosemite. We’ll get to both eventually, we’re just trying to choose which one to visit this summer. I love planning these adventures!
If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’ve started my HIIT/lifting routines again this week. If you’ve been with me for awhile, you know that I dedicated a lot of time to BBG workouts. I’ve cut the BBG cord temporarily, with a decision to focus more on yoga this year. Now I miss my lifting workouts. So, I’ve crafted a little time 2x a week for 20-30 min lift sessions before I teach classes. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to use a gym before teaching. I’m also still part of the basic membership at Orange Theory Fitness, and look forward to my Sunday workouts there!
That’s all for now (that’s quite a lot…), have a great rest of the week, and I hope to see you on the floor or virtually for the HIIT sessions!
