Coffee Talk Tuesday #121

It’s Tuesday! I have a delicious cup of Maryland Blend Rise Up coffee on this cold, wet day. Grab your cup and let’s start talkin’.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m gearing up to take 35 students to UMBC this Saturday! PRAY FOR NO SNOW. We have a snow date, but the plan for Saturday is all set and I don’t want to have to re-do it! It’s supposed to be super warm on Friday, and then snow/rain on Saturday. Oh, Maryland. What a wacky week!

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’ve added another Buti class to my weekly schedule! I was nervous to offer two high intensity back-to-back classes, but it actually worked really well. I even had several clients stay for both, which is awesome. I love this format, and being able to build a tribe here is very meaningful to me. What is Buti? It’s an empowering, energy-building, soul-pleasing class that combines tribal dance with plyometrics (think jump training) and dynamic asana. We balance chakras, we play the “drums,” we call out and hoot and holler, and we engage the core. The spiral technique we use on the core works the WHOLE core, not just the front of the core/visible “abs” like many formats. We also shake – vibrations are good for your soul and essential for good bone health. It’s a fitness class, but it feels more like a life class. You’ll leave feeling soothed, a little hungry for more, and super sexy and confident. Come join us! Next week, I’m teaching THREE Buti classes: Monday, Feb 18 (President’s Day so no school!) 11:45-12:45 — this one is Hip Hop themed, Wednesday, Feb 20 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Kent Island, and Friday, Feb 22 5:30-6:30 at Washington College.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that last week, I got a DEXA Scan! It’s a full-body scan that measures lean mass, fat, and bone density. It was a sponsored scan, so I’m writing a review about it. I have a special offer to share for those who want to go get a scan of their own! Stay tuned for the full review.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m on week 3 of my new strength routine (created myself, not following a program). I love lifting and the way it makes me feel. I keep it short, 20-30 minutes at a time, focusing on stability. I’m combining 2 of these lifts a week with one OTF class, on top of all the classes I teach. So far, so good! I share all my workouts on my instagram page, if you wanna peep it here. Please note that I designed these workouts for ME, so I can’t guarantee that it would be a good set-up for you! But maybe it will give you ideas of different moves to check out and incorporate into your plan. I focus on group fitness now, but maybe one day I’ll focus on individual fitness plans! I’ll never say never, but I’m happiest with group classes for now.

It’s another busy week, so I’ll finish here, but I look forward to next week’s chat! Have an awesome week.
