Coffee Talk Tuesday #79

Grab your cup – it’s time for a Coffee Talk Tuesday!

If we were having coffee together this week, I’d tell you that it’s a “short” work week but so packed with all the things. I’m starting my new class series, Spring into Fitness (plus the virtual group!), planning for the next round of engagements with my Next Gen students, wrapping up the month with reports, starting a new private group series, and doing some contracted design work for a local school. All while keeping up with my BBG training schedule and teaching my classes. I seem to stack most my fitness classes at the beginning of the week, so I end up teaching 6 of my 8 by Wednesday. The craziness!

If we were having coffee together this week, I’d also tell you that I’m super pumped to return to Charlotte. I love celebrating love, and I love getting uninterrupted time with my favorite person! Road trip ready.

If we were having coffee together this week, I’d tell you that I’m nearing the end of my BBG stronger series — I did 24 weeks of BBG and now am on Week 22 of BBG Stronger. There’s another program in the series called PWR that I think I would like. I’ll probably give it a try! Has anyone else tried the PWR program with Kelsey Wells? She’s a fierce trainer and I’m ready for something new.

Speaking of something new, if we were having coffee together this week, I’d tell you that I’m immersing myself in my new instructor training practices – Buti Yoga and Barre. I wanted to add two certifications this year, and these two seemed like a good next level to teach. I’ll be practicing at home and plan to take more classes in person, too. This gives me a little anxiety to think about fitting it all in, but where there is a will there is a way! If you ever “don’t have time” for something, it’s really just because it’s not a priority for you. And that’s ok! Not everything can be a priority all the time, and you’re are allowed to change your priorities. Teaching and training have become huge priorities for me, which is how I’m able to fit them into my schedule.

On a related note, if we were having coffee together this week, I’d tell you that all of these certifications (I will hold 7 different fitness ones after this summer) are causing me to play tetris with my teaching schedule. When the heck am I going to teach all of the classes I’m certified to teach? Space is also an issue. I’m confined to certain times at my main fitness studio, and am having a struggle with management at the other one–not something I like to share, but I think it’s important for people who are aspiring instructors to understand that it’s not “getting paid to work out” – there’s a whole business side to teaching. To get my new class off the ground, I had to promise to pay for the space and also let club members come for free. It’s likely that I will end up paying to teach the class, which is not ideal, but in my mind it seemed worth it at the time, to win the space and the ability to teach–and this is after being an instructor for 9 years!

If we were having coffee together this week, I’d tell you that the promise of warmer weather is getting me excited for starting my spring garden, spending more time outside, going on hikes, and even teaching a few outdoor classes. I’m ready!

If we were having coffee together this week, I’d tell you that April is full of workshops, fundraisers, retreats, classroom presentations, learning, and certification studying. April will be a hustle! Bring it on.

What’s up in your world this week?
