Coffee Talk Tuesday #88

Grab your cup! Let’s have a Coffee Talk Tuesday, yes?

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that this is officially the first day of being 32! Or, yesterday. The first day after? Either way, I’m running full force into my 30s. I started year 32 the best way I know how, with a hike! We traveled to Harper’s Ferry and hiked the Loudoun Heights trail. It was about 9 miles of hills with an awesome view of Harper’s Ferry at the lookout point. We hiked a similar trail last year, the MD Heights trail from Harper’s Ferry, which also has an amazing view.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that we’re approaching the end of the school year, which means this lady is in a constant daily hustle to get all of my student meetings done before they leave for the summer. The husband and I were reflecting on how long I’ve been working with Next Generation Scholars, and it’s only been 4 months. It’s crazy how much I’ve been able to fit into 4 months. By the end of next week, I will have met with each of my 200 students three times, visited 15 classes with the Maryland Scholars/life after high school presentation, and visited 23 science classes with various STEM professionals. It’s crazy to think about it!

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I recently got to chat about this program on WYPR’s On the Record. What a cool experience! Our segment turned out so well, and I’m glad to have the opportunity to share more about what we do with students. Take a listen!

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that we’re almost halfway through the first summer fitness schedule sessions. I’m changing things up a little this summer, trying new classes and times, and also scheduling blocks of time vs. the whole summer. I’m working on arranging the second block, which starts after the July 4 week.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that we hosted our first picnic since the kitchen has been completed! We don’t do much hosting, so this was fun. We’re constantly into house construction projects, so everyone got to see our back room in progress. We invited both of our families, which was the first time they’ve been together since our wedding! My sisters also stayed with us, so we ventured downtown and took part in some of the Tea Party weekend activities in Chestertown, including meeting the Clydesdale horses. Pretty neat!

It’s a pretty full week, so I’m going to finish my coffee and head to the next thing! I hope you have the best week ever!
