Fantastic little Saturday

Happy Saturday hellos from the little house on Pine!

It’s been a delightful day in Chestertown, despite the heat. I rose early to enjoy a coffee downtown with Shane before his teaching duties with the Creative Arts camp in town this week and then strolled toward Fountain Park for the Farmer Market.

tons of summer market goodies

I have so many yummy recipes in mind, thanks to Pinterest! I’m thinking…cucumber/chickpea salad and a peach/apricot salsa to cover the chicken for starters.

I’d hoped to spend some time on the homestead today, but it’s just too hot! I watered and visited the plants, and even pulled a few goodies

purple carrots, a few tomatoes, blackberries (haha, they were eaten on the spot), and the last of the green arrow peas

I did spend some time pulling tape off the 50 or so boxes we found for the homestead. Check out what we do with the cardboard! It’s amazing how much tape is used on some of the boxes…we just can’t have it under all the mulch since it takes too long to break down!

I also took care of some little tasks around the house, like laundry. Have I ever shared our cool laundry room set-up? We arranged it ourselves a couple of years ago–the room used to be dark brown (paneling) and had zero hanging room. We changed that!

Since I knew I’d be stuck indoors because of the heat, I spent some time organizing my clothes, too. I’m at a weird place where some clothing items are a little big and no longer fit well, so I started making piles of “keep” “get altered” and “donate/save for a future clothing swap.” I also had to organize all of my fitness clothing!

When I started losing weight/changing clothing sizes, I’ve made it a point to go through my closet every so often–it’s exciting to open a drawer and find all items that actually fit! It’s also a great reason to reward myself with another lovely little dress 🙂

I love starting the weekend feeling so accomplished. I’m even more excited to catch up with some friends over sushi this evening!

Happy weekend!
