Fitness Friday #13: 5 push-up variations
Push-ups are one of my favorite body strength moves. Like planks, push-ups work a variety of muscle groups: abdominals, pectorals, deltoids, and triceps to name a few.
Performing push-ups always makes me feel strong. There was a time when I couldn’t even perform one solid push-up. I pushed myself to do this 100 push-up challenge, which was overwhelming and awesome at the same time.
Once I started teaching beachbody formats – PiYo Live and Turbo Kick first – I started incorporating push-ups into classes.
Then things got interesting.
I would only perform a basic, simple push-up, but teaching these beachbody formats opened my eyes to a whole range of push-up variation possibilities.
For fun this week, here are a few of my all-time favorite push-up varieties:
1) Single-leg push-up
2) Downward dog push-up
3) Triangle push-up
4) Push-up with shoulder tap
5) Push-up jacks
