Fitness Friday #2 – Favorite Workout Gear
This was a fun post to write! I’ve been training for races, teaching fitness classes, and getting my workout groove on for the last 6.5 years. Over that time, I’ve found fitness items that I absolutely LOVE (and couldn’t do without). I have zero affiliations with these companies, these are just my honest favorite items!
1. This water bottle.
I love this Aladdin mason jar water bottle.
Hydration is so important in a fit and healthy lifestyle. Fact: if my water bottle makes drinking water fun, I’m more likely to do it, and often. Sad, but true. I love that this has a straw, fits 2 cups of water, and it’s one of my favorite colors. The only downside to this thing is that it doesn’t fit into my car cup holder, so I awkwardly let it fall around my front seat, or look at a passenger with puppy dog eyes like “um, can you hold this?” But I’ll take that downside for all the other good bits!
These are the first headbands that fit my strange head shape and STAY ON even during all the crazy jumping in Insanity and Zumba AND when I’m practicing yoga inversions. Plus, they sparkle. And they come in fun colors. And I may or may not have 12 of them.
3. Victoria’s Secret sports bras.
Okay, hear me out. It’s a little steep for a piece of clothing, but this thing works. I’m not a member of the BTC, but any sort of jostling, especially during my high-intensity classes, is uncomfortable. Enter this sports bra. Not only does it keep everything from moving, it serves a less important (but very nice) role of making the girls look lovely.
4. Old Navy athletic wear.
I have drawers full of it. No, really. From the fun colors, to the crazy patterns, and the super sassy tanks (like…You Don’t Know Squat & Sweat Your Heart Out) – I love this stuff. When you teach 8-9 times a week (I used to teach 11!!!), and you like to workout beyond that, it’s nice to jazz up the wardrobe with bright colors and patterns. I love mismatching colors, but I also love being super matchy-matchy. It depends on my mood of the day.
You guys. These are my JAM. There’s nothing I love more than snuggling up with a cup of tea (Celestial Seasonings!) while letting my compression socks work their magic. These guys promote healthy circulation while reducing swelling in the legs and feet and they allow for faster recovery. This is so necessary when I finish teaching at 7:45 p.m. and have a 6:30 a.m. class again the next day. I like the marathon socks.
As I compiled this list, I realized that I have way more than 5 favorite workout gear items, so expect another one of these posts for Fitness Friday in the future!
