Five Amazing Things
Hi, Friends!
Is it really almost the end of March? Time sure flies when you’re having fun. I’ve been busy as a bee: between training for the 10 mile race coming up, recruiting a new class for Washington College, hosting a cupcake party (for real…check out my photos on instagram!), and getting the homestead ready for the big bee arrival this week.
I have so much to share, but for now, check out five amazing things I’m tickled over lately:
1) Spring has sprung on the Homestead! We have blooms everywhere on our 14 fruit trees, perennial vines, and berry bushes.
Check out all the photos of theĀ Homestead in March on Flickr!
2) I made the decision to put away the bulky sweaters and new snow boots (which didn’t get used once this whole winter!). Hello, spring dresses, bright colors, and sandals!
3) I’m on another painting kick at the little house on Pine. The latest victims: the bedroom (which will feature one of the pink colors below), the bee boxes, the kitchen cabinets (turquoise!!), and the dining room. Once I emerge, I’ll post photos of my progress!
4) I’m all ready to start my spring planting on the Homestead. I spent lots of time this month carefully planning the direct-seeding plants, transplants, and new fruit tree additions. New to the Homestead this year: flowers for the bees!
Here’s my handwritten organizing system with annual vegetables…I keep the seed packets so I know what to re-order and what I shouldn’t order again! Surprise for the garden this year: we aren’t planting any nightshades (yes, that includes tomatoes!). I’ll explain more in a later post.
Off to run around the neighborhood! Gotta keep on track with my race training.
