Halfway Point
When I create goals, I like to build in a couple of “checkpoints” to make sure I’m on track to complete them. Since we’re about halfway through May, I think it’s time to look back at the goals I planned for the month to determine my progress!
– Right on track, I’ve been blogging each day for half of the month of May, for the WordCount Blogathon! I’m so proud of myself for posting each day, especially after a year of posting sporadically. I’m so much happier when I write and have wonderfully creative outlets.
– Shane and I both signed up for vacation time next week. Together. At the same time. This is so unheard of for us; it’s weird to both have scheduled time off work. I’m jubilant. We’re deciding between staying home and having a happy staycation, going camping in VA, or some combination of the two. We should probably figure that out soon 😉 Whatever we end up doing, I know I’ll love it!
– I’ve been on the Chester River three times this month, between kayaking, boating, and pontooning. Each time I’m out there, I crave more time on the water. I’m even contented just to sit by the water, it’s so soothing. I can’t imagine living away from water after having the river so close to home.
– The deck hasn’t been started yet, but that’s one of the ideas for our staycation is to work on it! Even if we don’t break ground, we’ve made so much progress with the design that I’m happy either way.
– I’ve already gone strawberry picking once! But you can never go too many times, so I’m sure I’ll be back before the end of the month, probably during Tea Party weekend.
– I’ve completed 1/3 of the races for this month! The next one is a 10K race in St. Michaels this Saturday. After my training run on Tuesday, I feel so strong and ready for this race. Bring it on. (plus…running in St. Michaels…hi, that’s so exciting!!!)
– Major headway has been made on my fitness instruction goals. I’ve signed up for another license at the end of June, this time for TurboKick. I’m leading a demo for PiYo Strength this Friday night (wish me luck!) and have started to create buzz for PiYo classes around the gym where I teach Zumba. The next training I do will be for group exercise certification, likely though AFAA or ACE.
– I’ve also purchased a new web domain for a second blog project! It’s separate from fitness, but still 100% me. I hope to get it started before this summer 🙂 It’s a great opportunity for a different kind of writing.
– We haven’t made kombucha yet, but we do have everything we need to get started, so I’m hopeful that I’ll still be able to pull through on this goal. We did manage to make sauerkraut last weekend! I’ll share the full story next week.
–Â Not on the original list, I have to determine whether I want to take another graduate course in history this summer. I’m torn. More tomorrow on this debate. I might need your help!
Stuff that didn’t make it on the list, but I think will be accomplished: lots of planting on the homestead, painting the dining room and possibly the bedroom (ginger and pink!), shamelessly making my way through TrueBlood (soooo good when I can’t sleep at night), reading at least one book on my bedside table (the likeliest contender is Weeds: in Defense of Nature’s Most Unloved Plants, a recommendation from a fellow Blog2012 writer!), and a trip to visit my favorite George’s house in Mount Vernon with the senior class at Washington College! I’m a “chaperone” for the trip, and the official photographer of the evening.
Lots more to come, and we’re only halfway through May!Â
