In Pursuit

When I call myself “fit for life” what I mean is that’s the lifestyle I’m working toward. I’m not perfect. I like sweet things (except for chocolate lately – I’ve been reacting strangely to it, and think I might be allergic!), I don’t always challenge myself enough physically, and until recently haven’t gotten a solid night’s sleep. Oh, and sometimes I leave dirty dishes in the sink, overnight.

But each day, I make one healthy choice, and then another (just like Heather said!). Some days, the choice is easy, most likely because I’ve planned a run with a friend, or I know I have killer leftovers from a zucchini casserole I made on Sunday.

And some days, it’s harder to make the better decision. Like, a First Friday in Chestertown complete with a silly tropical drink and a cookie the size of my face from the local bakery. And sometimes Imperial fries.

In my previous life (which I’ve lived–I see my life now as pre-fit life and current in-the-pursuit-of-fit life), I could sit and eat an entire bag of processed chocolate candy. Like, M&Ms.

I’m writing this because I just spent the weekend with a whole gaggle of healthy living enthusiasts.
