On my bookshelf

Earlier this month, I told myself I had to read at least three books. Since both of my book clubs have parted ways, and since I’ve placed the grad program on the back burner {maybe even permanently on hold}, I’ve relied mostly on recommendations from friends to serve as motivation for reading!

So far, I’ve read 2 books in June:

These books were recommended to me by a professor-friend, so it was my academic obligation to read them. Obviously.

I have zero interest in the final book. {I didn’t have an interest in the second book, it just magically appeared on my doorstep one day with a note saying “READ ME. love, Amazon.”}

Anyway. My mind is in need of something that involves good writing, exciting ideas, or a good story. Or any story.

Luckily, my bookshelf is always overflowing. I have a few in mind to choose from next:

Each book tickles a different fancy: fighting industrial development, learning about history and gardens, a true story set in a favorite location, an imaginative adventure story in a post-apocolytpic world, and celebrating healthy living (by one of my favorite bloggers Caitlin!). A great selection!

Now…which one to choose? I want to read all five, but want my next selection to be both savory and satisfying. Which would you choose? It’s going to be one giant game of eeny-meeny over here to decide…

What are you reading now? Do you have amazing book recommendations to pass along?

  1. Yay books! I really liked Oryx and Crake… but I loved the second book in the series The Year of the Flood. 🙂

  2. I love the Monkey Wrench Gang! It’s slow getting into it but once you get past the first few chapters it’s hard to put down. Or I thought so. J couldn’t get into it at all though I am convinced he will like it if he gives it a try.

    I just picked up Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver and am already hooked! It promises to be a great summer read.
