She’s Got Legs
I haven’t taken a live yoga class in more than a year. Instead, I’ve opted to practice a bit of yoga every day, after classes, in my backyard, whenever the mood strikes.
I love having a disciplined practice, which is one of the reasons I’m excited to join the August 2014 #ShesGotLegs yoga challenge, lead by Kino MacGregor, Laura Sykora, Irene Pappas, and Kerri Verna.
One of my favorite pieces of this challenge (which I’m sharing on instagram and facebook), is that I can click on the ShesGotLegs hashtag and see all kinds of forms and variations from other yogis. It’s a joint journey of yoga challenges, and we can all benefit from one another’s practices.
Here’s the full month of challenges:
And Days 1 & 2 below:
DAY ONE: Pigeon Pose. A great hip opener! I’ve come to rely on these after PiYo classes.
DAY TWO: Extended Side Angle pose. Two variations – one with my hand on the ground, one with an extra leg extension. It’s all about hamstring flexibility!
If you’re following along with the challenge and you have an instagram account, link it below so I can see your awesome moves!
Also, if you are participating, make sure to spend at least 10 minutes warming up your muscles before attempting any poses. A great warm up would be a brisk walk, or a few sets of sun salutations. Warmer muscles means safer stretches, deeper poses, and a happier you.
