Staycation List
This week, I’m taking a ‘staycation’ from my admissions work (still teaching my fitness classes) to take care of a few projects at home. I love a good staycation – it’s neat to change up the routine and spend time in my own environment, especially since I do tend to travel a bit.
To keep me on-task, I’m creating a list of to-dos for the staycation. I love having a list of “ten.”
1. Fruit picking. I’d like to make it to Lockbriar and White Marsh orchard to do some pickin’. See #2.
2. Jam and jelly making: blueberry, blackberry, peach. I love making summer jam for Christmas/holiday gifts. This week off is the perfect time to do it.
3. Fall planting plan. My landlord built me a garden box, and I have yet to plant anything in it! I’m envisioning some fall planting…carrots, squashes, and then some spinach and kale later in the season. I just need a plan!
4. Organize closet/clothes. I’ve already donated quite a bit, and started my first consignment order, but there’s always room to skim it down a little more. I also have to make some order/sense of my “craft/accessories” closet…oh boy.
5. New class material. Teaching 4 formats at once can be tricky, and I’ve implemented a learn-as-you go strategy for new classes material. I want to create a stockpile of new moves, songs, and material to use when the fall starts! I’m also finalizing my fall class schedule this week.
6. More time on the water. I love living on the Chester River, even more so when I take advantage of the location. I adore kayaking, and have already been 4 times since last Thursday. I hope to get on the water several times this week.
7. Read. My list for the week has 6 books currently. I’ve already finished one; I was too excited to wait for the week to start.
8. Yoga practice. I love self-disciplined practice. This is time for me to grow.
9. Start half marathon training plan. I’ve committed to run at least one half marathon this fall, which means training needs to start this week!
10. Work on Colchester Farm/Oktoberfest materials. We’re gearing up to start promotion for our big fall fundraiser, Oktoberfest! (ahem, save the date for Saturday, October 4 from 4-9 p.m. More details to follow).
6 books and you didn’t provide a list? Tsk tsk 🙂 I haven’t gone kayaking in so long, I miss it. Your staycation sounds just lovely!
