Strawberry Birthday Cake

I turned 26 yesterday. Alas, I don’t feel any older, but I do feel wiser.

{mostly because I made this super fab strawberry cake}

That was a wise decision that only a mature 26-year-old can make. #truth.

But really, you can’t go wrong when you add local strawberries to a cake…
or when you add them to buttercream icing, too.
I’ll probably be in a constant state of sugar coma for the rest of the week.
I made three different types of icing for this cake. {one is not enough}
a strawberry buttercream icing for in between layers and the very top center,
a vanilla buttercream for the fancy piping around the top,
and a lighter vanilla whipped topping for the sides.
They meshed well together in an amazing sugary way.

{for the cake, I used my go-to dense white cake recipe, which I also use for cupcakes. The only thing I do differently is use raw sugar instead of white sugar.}

Add one summery dress and a very large knife,
celebratory pink champagne,
and a group of friends for a fun backyard cake and champagne birthday celebration!

I’m a lucky girl.
