Training for Ragnar Tennessee
Monday is normally a running day for me, but today’s run is special: I’m training for the Ragnar Tennessee Race, a 200-mile relay from Chattanooga to Nashville with 11 other ladies.
My share of the course comes to 18 miles.
The individual distances are not an issue – 7, 6, 5 miles. I normally run 10-12 on an every-other-day basis. The trick will be the length of time between runs.
During the race, my first run will be in the late morning on a Thursday, second will be around 9:30 that night, and final run will be around 5-6 a.m. on Friday morning. Three runs in an unfamiliar place within 19 hours.
I couldn’t be more excited.
So, to train for this lovely beast, my running partner James and I are tackling three runs today! We ran 7 miles this morning at 5, we’re running 6 miles during lunchtime, and then capping the day with a 5-mile run later this evening.
By the end of the day (and surely tomorrow), my legs will feel the fatigue of a multi-run day. Compression socks and the foam roller will be my best friends tonight.
Wish me luck!
All the best to you, Aundra! What an exciting adventure! Being part of a team is great!
