Welcome to Summer Sangria
So, this happened last night.
Feeling spontaneous, I messaged a few friends yesterday afternoon and suggested they come over {after Zumba class, of course} to sip some sangria on our back porch–a welcome to summer party of sorts.
After receiving overwhelming “yes!” responses, I had to figure out how to make sangria. heh.
I improvised. I don’t know if this even counts as sangria, but oh boy was it ever tasty. I made a quick trip to Lockbriar Farm for a pint of raspberries {gotta stick with the fruit in season!}, and then decided to add one apple and one orange, both sliced.
I used Rose wine. A great decision! The sangria tasted light and fruity.
Here’s my attempt at remembering a recipe:
2.5 bottles Rose wine
1 pint raspberries (fresh is best!)
1 apple, sliced thinly
1 orange, sliced, not peeled
a dash of club soda
mint for garnish
Add all ingredients to a pitcher, allow to cool for at least an hour before serving. {especially on 102 degree summer nights}. When ready to serve, add ice to glasses, and make sure each guest receives at least one sangria-soaked apple slice!
Since I recently rearranged our back porch furniture, we had a lovely place to enjoy our sangria, too.
{our new-to-us furniture on the porch is actually a set of really lovely furniture from our lovely friends who moved to GA last year.}
